Pavement performed 'Grounded' live in Manchester in late 1998, just before the release of their critically acclaimed album, 'Terror Twilight', which dropped in 1999. At this point in their career, the band was riding high on the indie rock wave and had gained significant traction thanks to previous albums like 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain' and 'Wowee Zowee'. The Manchester concert captures their raw energy and playful stage presence, showcasing the band's unique blend of lo-fi charm and catchy melodies. Interestingly, the lead singer, Stephen Malkmus, often incorporated witty banter into their performances, reflecting the band’s laid-back yet quirky style. This show is a snapshot of Pavement just before they expanded their sound, moving toward a more polished production on 'Terror Twilight', which would be their last studio album before their hiatus.
