In March 2010, Pavement was deep into their highly anticipated reunion tour, marking their first live performance in over a decade. The live recording of "Date w/Ikea" captures the band during a momentous return, right after they released their reissued discography, which thrilled fans and newcomers alike. Before this performance, Pavement had notably put out their critically acclaimed album, "Terror Twilight," back in 1999, which showcased their unique blend of lo-fi sound and sharp lyrics. Interestingly, the band’s initial breakup in 1999 left a cultural gap in indie rock that fans eagerly filled with nostalgia, making the 2010 tour feel like a rediscovery rather than just a reunion. The venue, the Palace Theatre in Melbourne, had its own vibrant history, adding another layer of energy to this timeless moment in music.
