Stephen Malkmus

In April 2014, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks played a live set at KEXP, right around the time they were promoting their album 'Wig Out at Jagbags.' Released just a few months earlier in January, this album marks a playful evolution for Malkmus, blending his signature whimsical lyrics with a refreshing sonic twist. It's interesting to note that 'Wig Out at Jagbags' features some of Malkmus's most adventurous musical exploration to date. The performance of 'J Smoov' during the KEXP session reflects his ongoing ability to fuse the experimental with accessible melodies, showcasing not just his talent but also the tight-knit vibe of the Jicks. By this time, Malkmus was well-established yet still eager to push boundaries, proving that even after years in the game, there's always room to grow.
