Big Brother & the Holding Company

Before their iconic performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, Big Brother and the Holding Company had released their self-titled debut album in 1967. This album featured the hit "Piece of My Heart," which became a signature song for Janis Joplin, showcasing her powerful voice and raw emotional depth. By the time of this live recording, the band was rapidly gaining recognition, thanks in part to Joplin's electrifying stage presence and vocal intensity.
