In October 2010, when Phish performed at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, they were in the midst of a significant phase in their career following their reunion in 2009. The band's prior studio album, "Joy," was released in 2009, marking their first studio release in nearly five years. "Joy" was notable for its introspective themes, reflective of the band's experiences during their hiatus. By the time of the live recording on October 31, 2010, Phish had successfully re-established themselves, drawing on a rich catalog of songs while also incorporating new material from "Joy" into their performances. The concert also took place on Halloween, a tradition for Phish to perform special themed shows, which further heightened the excitement and engagement of their fanbase, showcasing their unique blend of rock, improvisation, and theatricality.
