On July 12, 1999, during a live performance at Great Woods in Mansfield, MA, Phish performed a unique cover of Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time." This event marked the first and only electric rendition of the song by Phish, showcasing their ability to infuse their performances with unexpected and diverse elements. By this time, Phish had just released their album "The Story of the Ghost" in 1998 and were in the midst of a prolific era, having established a reputation for their improvisational prowess and eclectic selections. This cover not only demonstrated their musical versatility but also highlighted their connection to classic rock influences, further endearing them to a broad audience. Following this performance, Phish continued to evolve, releasing their album "Farmhouse" in 2000, which further solidified their legacy in the jam band scene.
