In January 2009, while performing at Baked Potato, Umphrey's McGee was fresh off the release of their 2008 album, "Mantis." This album marked a significant evolution in their sound, incorporating more progressive rock elements and emphasizing intricate compositions. At this time, Umphrey's McGee was establishing themselves in the jam band scene, noted for their high-energy performances and improvisational prowess. The live recording with OHMphrey featured members of the band, showcasing their versatility and the collaborative spirit within the jam band community. The involvement of Chris Poland, a former Megadeth guitarist, added a unique flair to the performance, highlighting the project's progressive rock influences and showcasing the blend of different musical backgrounds within the group's dynamic.
