Bright Eyes

In the summer of 2022, Bright Eyes was riding a wave of resurgence, having released their first album in nearly a decade, *Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was*, back in August 2020. This comeback album marked a significant chapter, celebrating the band's distinctive blend of indie rock and folk, and showcasing the lyrical depth that frontman Conor Oberst is known for. Performing “First Day of My Life” live at The Union Event Center in Salt Lake City on June 28, 2022, the band captured the raw emotion and nostalgia embedded in the song—a fan favorite since its original release on *Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground* in 2002. Interestingly, this performance highlighted Oberst's unique storytelling ability, bringing a fresh yet familiar energy to the crowd, and reinforcing the song's themes of love, hope, and new beginnings, even after all these years.
