In September 2021, during their electrifying performance at Riot Fest in Chicago, the Smashing Pumpkins unleashed "Bullet with Butterfly Wings," a track that’s essentially an anthem for the ‘90s alternative rock movement. By this time, the band had released "Cyr," their eleventh studio album, just a year earlier in November 2020. "Cyr" marked a bold venture into a more modern sound, layered with synths and dreamlike pop elements, diverging from their earlier grunge roots. This was an exciting time for the band, showcasing their adaptability through decades. Notably, Billy Corgan, the band's enigmatic frontman, remarked on the importance of live performances in connecting with their fan base, especially after the challenges posed by the pandemic. So, seeing them live—after a hiatus from touring—was a monumental experience for both the band and their faithful fans, sparking that unforgettable nostalgia wrapped in a fresh interpretation.
