Nirvana

Before the live recording of “Sappy” on November 30, 1989, Nirvana was in a thrilling phase of their career, riding the wave of their debut album, *Bleach*. Released in 1989, *Bleach* introduced a raw, grunge sound that was beginning to turn heads in the underground music scene. By this time, despite their modest early success, the band had yet to explode into mainstream consciousness — that would soon come with their second album, *Nevermind*, the following year. Interestingly, during this Zurich performance, Chad Channing was behind the drums, contributing to the band’s early, gritty sound. The energy of that night hinted at the groundbreaking potential they were about to unleash, capturing the essence of a band on the brink of massive change. It’s fascinating to think that in just a year, Nirvana would become a household name, forever shaping the landscape of rock music.
