In August 2010, Soundgarden took the stage at Lollapalooza in Grant Park, Chicago, delivering an electrifying performance that reignited their connection with fans after a lengthy hiatus. This live set came nearly 16 years after their last studio album, “Down on the Upside,” which was released in 1996. Interestingly, their iconic 1994 album "Superunknown"—which features hits like "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman"—had initially catapulted them to fame during the grunge wave of the '90s. By the time of the Lollapalooza show, the band was preparing for their much-anticipated comeback album “King Animal,” which would be released in late 2012. The performance also marked a significant moment in their journey, as it showcased not only their enduring legacy but also their ability to captivate a newer generation of fans, reminding everyone why they were pioneers of the grunge sound. How fitting that they chose to perform classics from such a groundbreaking album at such a legendary festival!
