As of May 24, 2024, during the Dead & Company performance at the Sphere in Las Vegas, the ensemble was deeply engaged in their "Dead Forever" tour, which reflects a continuing commitment to the Grateful Dead's legacy. Prior to this performance, Dead & Company released their live album "Live in Denver" in 2023, showcasing the improvisational spirit that the band is known for. The song "Althea," which was performed during this recording, originally appeared on the Grateful Dead's 1980 album "Go to Heaven" and has become a staple in the repertoire. This concert also marked a significant moment for guitarist John Mayer, who has brought his own style to classics while honoring the essence of the Grateful Dead.
