In January 1993, Dinosaur Jr. was experiencing a significant resurgence in their career, with the release of their album "Where You Been" just a year prior, in 1992. This period marked a crucial transition for the band as it was their first record with the new lineup, featuring bassist Mike Johnson, following the departure of founding member Lou Barlow. The live recording of "Thumb" during an MTV Europe session reveals the band's raw energy and the growing mainstream recognition they were achieving at that time.
