Car Seat Headrest

Before the live recording at SOBA in July 2018, Car Seat Headrest released their critically acclaimed album "Teens of Denial" in 2016. This album was a significant milestone in their career, showcasing a blend of lo-fi rock and deeply introspective lyrics, which resonated with fans and critics alike. By this point, the band's frontman, Will Toledo, had garnered recognition for his unique approach to songwriting, often tackling themes of youth, confusion, and identity. The live performance of "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" and "Destroyed By Hippie Powers" featured in this video captures the band's raw energy and emotional depth, reflecting their evolution since transitioning from a solo project to a prominent indie rock band. Interestingly, they recorded several albums prior to "Teens of Denial," but this one truly marked their breakthrough into the mainstream.
