Built to Spill

In July 2007, when Built to Spill performed "Conventional Wisdom" at the Metro Theatre in Sydney, they were riding high on the momentum of their studio album *You in Reverse*, which had been released just a couple of years prior, in 2006. This album marked a significant point for the band, showcasing their ability to weave intricate melodies and introspective lyrics while pushing their sound into more expansive territories. Interestingly enough, *You in Reverse* was the band's first release after a seven-year hiatus, leading fans to eagerly anticipate their return. By the time of this live recording, the chemistry between the band members—particularly Doug Martsch's laid-back yet passionate guitar work and vocals—was palpable, electrifying the audience in a way that only live music can.
