Dire Straits

In January 1992, when Dire Straits performed live in Basel, Switzerland, they were riding the wave of their successful album "On Every Street," which had been released in 1991. This album was notable as it marked the band's final studio release and showcased a polished sound that included elements of Rock and Blues, characteristic of frontman Mark Knopfler's intricate guitar work. The live performance of "Sultans of Swing," a classic track from their earlier album "Dire Straits," highlights not only the band's enduring popularity but also Knopfler's celebrated prowess on the guitar, especially evident in the amazing solo captured in this recording. At this point, the band was enjoying a fruitful era following their massive hits in the 1980s, establishing Dire Straits as a significant force in rock music history before they disbanded in 1995.
